Church, Two School Houses, Two Homes Burned in New Light Section, March 12, 1921

By the Associated Press

Raleigh, March 11—Sheriff Harrison and a number of deputies left this forenoon for the New Light section of Wake County, 22 miles from Raleigh, to investigate a series of mysterious fires which have resulted in the destruction of one church, two school houses and two residences.

The authorities believe the fires were the work of blockaders whose activities have been interrupted during the past few days.

Revenue officers on Thursday afternoon in this section captured eight “moonshine” whiskey plants and one still. On Thursday night a church and two school houses were burned to the ground. The two residents were burned earlier in the week.
