Mr. Thomas announces that the seed which are to be furnished on contract to farmers and truckers to supply the plant this summer have arrived and are ready for distribution. The machinery for the plant has already been purchased and will be installed in the plant as soon as the structure is far enough advanced to justify this.
Extraordinary interest in the proposed plant is being displayed according to Mr. Thomas, by farmers and truck growers adjacent to the city and even in remote centers of the county. Because the cotton crop was a failure during the last year, because of lack of market, the farmers are turning to other enterprises and many inquiries have been received as to what quantity of fruits and vegetables can be handled at the proposed canning plant and on what terms seed may be obtained.
