W.H. Pharr's Father Sends Florida Souvenir, A Live Alligator, March 20, 1921

An alligator shipped by parcel post under a 7-cent stamp from St. Augustine, Fla., to Charlotte is an object of interest at the W.H. Pharr home on the Providence road. Mr. Pharr received the shipment form his father, W.S. Pharr, who with Mrs. Pharr, has been spending several weeks in St. Augustine.

The ‘gator is about 14 inches long and was shipped in a small box a few inches longer than the reptile itself. The box was about two inches deep, with a hole at each end of the box for ventilation. The creature is doing well and seems to be enjoying his new surroundings.
