John Lobo, Lonnie Saunders Sentenced to Roads in Shoplifting Case, March 12, 1921

John Lobo and Lonnie Saunders, two South Carolina negro shoplifters, were sentenced to road sentences of 18 months by Recorder Pruitt yesterday afternoon and Will Thompson, the third man arrested, was discharged.

The two principals were identified by several clerks as the negroes who entered stores to purchase silk dresses. They stole dresses or clothing from Thompson-West Company, Parks-Belk-Broome Company, Setzer and Russell and probably other stores.

The Hickory police officers broke up the stealing game in short order. There are still some other articles that have not been claimed.

From the Hickory Daily Record, Saturday, March 12, 1921
