Statesville, May 21—Mrs. Harry Rebecca Stewart, aged 80 years, drowned herself in Catawba river at Buffalo shoals bridge this morning. She walked off the pier, stepped into the river and was washed down the stream 300 yards. Her body was found at 9 o’clock about two hours after her disappearance. She had been mentally unbalanced for several weeks. Application for admission in the State Hospital at Morganton had not been acted upon. She made her home with her only surviving son, John Stewart.
