L.W. Cartwright Is Coast Guard Warrant Officer, Aug. 8, 1924

Lands Job as Pay Clerk with Coast Guard Forces

Luther W. Cartwright, of this city, who for the past two years has been resident manager for the Eastern Cotton Oil Company has recently been appointed a pay clerk with the U.S. Coast Guard, which position carries with it the rating of warrant officer. Mr. Cartwright received notice of his appointment last week, after having made high marks on his examination, and enters on his new duties at Philadelphia Monday. He is 30 years old and native of Pasquotank County. During the World War he was secretary to the Governor of the Samoan Islands.
