The lure of the hen-house called Cicero Mosely back to his old-time pursuit Friday morning. Consequently, Recorder J. Laurence Jones sent him back to the chain gang.
Cicero invaded the hen-house of Mrs. Ellen Fowler, on Belmont avenue, about 4 o’clock Friday morning and selected a rooster and four hens. Four hours later he was peddling chicken on East Seventh street. Two hours later he was pleading before the court for “mercy, y’oner.”
Before offering the chickens for sale, Cicero cut the head off each one off and picked the feathers. Nevertheless Mrs. Fowler identified each bird as having been among those eating supper in her chicken-yard Friday evening.
Cicero did not deny the charge. The court gave him an opportunity to speak his own behalf, but all he had to say was to recommend mercy for himself. He has spent considerable time on the roads during his life owing to his alleged weakness for chickens and chicken houses.
