C.W. Williams Surrenders in Case of Slaying of Officers, Aug. 2, 1924

Fourth Man in Connection with Slaying Surrenders

Wilmington, Aug. 1 (AP)—C.W. Williams, the fourth man sought in connection with the slaying of Officers Leon George and Sam Lilly Tuesday night, surrendered to Hoyt Kennedy this afternoon.

Stewart was turned over to Sheriff Lewis and carried to the jail at Southport.

Immediately after his arrest, Elmer Stewart, his son, and Jack Ramsey, arrested Wednesday in connection with the murder, were removed from Southport jail to Wilmington.

The Stewarts and Ramsey, Linwood Kendall, the latter held as an accomplice to the murder, will be given a preliminary hearing at Southport tomorrow.
