Winston-Salem, N.C., Aug. 2—J.H. Vaughan, a well known merchant of East Winston-Salem, was shot and killed about 11 o’clock here tonight as he was entering his home after having closed his place of business for the day. Mr. Vaughan was 52 years old and leaves a wife and one child. Robbery was said to have been the motive.
