Mr. A.B. Small, Confederate veteran and one of Lumberton’s oldest citizens, died yesterday morning at his home on Third street, following ill health of several months. He had been confined to his bed for the past few weeks. He was 82 years old.
He was a loyal member of Camp Willis Pope, Company “B” and 50th Regiment.
Funeral services were conducted at the home this morning at 10 o’clock by Dr. Chas. H. Durham, pastor of the First Baptist church, of which deceased was a member, and interment was made in Meadowbrook cemetery. Pall bearers were Messrs. Frank Gough, A.J. Holmes, Ed., Ben G., and H.O. Floyd, and Walter Prevatt.
Deceased before moving to Lumberton several years ago was a prosperous farmer of Saddle Tree township. During the last years of his life he was the official scale and weight inspector of the county. He is survived by his wife.
