Mira Elium, 35, Has Died, Aug. 9, 1924

Mrs. J.R. Elum Dies at Spencer. . . Respected and Loved by Large Circle of Friends—Funeral to be Held Sunday

Spencer, Aug. 8—A death that brought peculiar sadness to many in Spencer and vicinity came late Thursday night to Mrs. Mira Elium, wife of J.R. Elium, a well known citizen of Spencer, and followed a long illness of more than two years, during which a determined fight for life was made. She had been desperately ill, however, for two weeks or more and the relatives were prepared at the end.

Mrs. Elium, who was 35 years old, was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Bostain, her mother having died some years ago and her father now living in East Spencer. She had been married since 1908 and the family had resided in Spencer most of this time, and has many warm friends here. Besides her husband she is survived by three children, Annie, Glenn Frances and James Elium Jr., also by her aged father; three sisters, Mrs. A.L. Long, Mrs. M.L. Webb and Mrs. J.B. Hayworth of Salisbury; and by three brothers, Messrs. Jake Bostain of Richmond, Herman Bostain of New Jersey, and Glenn Bostain of Detroit.

From the front page of The Concord Daily Tribune, Saturday, Aug. 9, 1924. Last name is probably spelled Elium, as it is throughout the article, but it’s Elum in the headline.
