Mrs. E.G. Black and Miss Sara Miller are spending the day in Charlotte.

Mr. and Mrs. M.O. Harris and children, Mr. and Mrs. C.A. Cook, Mrs. J.R. Cook, and Miss Bertha Cook spent Friday in Chimney Rock.

Miss Lou White will leave tomorrow for western North Carolina where she will spend several weeks.

E.E. Caldwell and N.T. Deaton are spending several days in New York on business.

Mrs. C.E. Moore and children, who have been spending several weeks in Hildebrand with relatives, have returned home.

Mrs. L.A. Brown and son, Beverly, of Gastonia, are the guests of Mrs. R.A. Brown at her home on South Union street.

Mr. and Mrs. J.F. Cannon, Miss Annie Cannon and Master Joseph Cannon have gone to Blowing Rock, where they will remain for some time as guests at the Mayview Manor.

Mrs. John McClellan has returned from Charlotte after spending several days with Mr. and Mrs. McKinley McClellan.

Mrs. J.W. Snyder has returned to her home after a week’s visit in Monroe and Marshville.

Mrs. T.D. Maness is spending several days in Albemarle with friends and relatives.

Masters Alex and Clarkson Brown of Gastonia are spending several days with John and Rufus Brown.

John Stratford and son have returned from Greensboro, where they attended the funeral of Mr. Stratford’s nephew, John Mendenhall. Mr. Mendenhall, who was well known to students at Chapel Hill, died following an operation for appendicitis.

Miss Mildred Sammons of Goldsboro is visiting Miss Annis Smoot.

G.G. Dunlap left this morning for Atlanta after spending a week here with friends.

Mrs. L.P. White of Dustin, Okla., is visiting her sister, Mrs. S.C. Flowe of No. 10 township.

Miss Helen Mauney of Kings Mountain is visiting Miss Eleanor Blume.

Miss Mary Lilly Snuggs of Albemarle is the guest of Mrs. R.L. Miller on West Corbin street. Parents of a Daughter

Born to Mr. and Mrs. L.S. Stevens of Charlotte, August 6th, a daughter. Mrs. Stevens, before marriage, was Miss Nell Harry of Concord.
