Shelby and Cleveland county people will be interested in the following items from the Gastonia Gazette of Tuesday:
“Roy ‘Casey’ Morris, Gastonia boy, who is now coaching the Shelby high school baseball team in its race for state honors, will probably report to Manager Ray Kennedy of the Charlotte Hornets Monday.
“Morris will take his Shelby team to Chapel Hill Friday to play the winner of the eastern series. The final game has been held up a week due to trouble with ineligible men in the east. Three games ae being re-played this week.
“It is understood that Morris will be given a chance to make the Charlotte hornets this year. Word form Charlotte yesterday was to the effect that Ray Kennedy would give the Carolina star every chance to make good.”
