Mrs. D.C. Mangum, 71, Has Died, May 24, 1925

Aged Resident Dies Saturday; Funeral Today. . . Mrs. D.C. Mangum Was One of Durham’s Oldest and Best Known Citizens; 71 Years of Age. . . Conduct Services 5 o’clock Today. . . Rev. S.S. Bost to Officiate; Deceased Leaves Two Sons, Two Sisters and Grand Daughter

Mrs. D.C. Mangum, one of Durham’s oldest and best known citizens, died Saturday morning at her home on McMannen street, following a short illness. She was born at Conasbaugh, Pa., on October 12, 1954, later moving to Durham where she has resided for many years. The deceased is the widow of the late D.C. Mangum, who for many years served as clerk of Durham county.

The deceased is survived by two sons, D.C. Mangum Jr. of Dallas, Texas, who was at her bedside when death came, and Clyde Mangum of Tennessee; one granddaughter, Miss Catherine Mangum; two sisters, Mrs. E.E. Thompson, and Miss Rosa Markham, both of Durham; and many friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday afternoon at 5 o’clock from the home by Rev. S.S. Bost, rector of St. Phillip’s Episcopal church, of which the deceased was an active member. Interment will be made in Maplewood cemetery.

The pallbearers will be nephews of the deceased, as follows: Fred Markham, H.T. Seeman, R.B. Mason, I.P. Alexander, Emmett Thompson and Dr. Hickman Ray.

The floral bearers will be: J.M. Parker, George Loungee Sr., Sam Darnell, William Bagwell, W.H Proctor, B.W. Hobgood, William Williams, Ralph Richardson, J.D. Pridgen Sr., S.B. Burch, M.F. Markham and J.H. Sneed.
