Frank Paul Fined $192.70 and May Lose Car, May 25, 1925

Drunk Driver Pays Big Fine in Recorder’s Court Here. . . Frank Paul of Pembroke May Lose Automobile—To Charge of Being Drunk, Carrying Pistol and Possessing Whiskey Enters Nolo Contendere Plea

Driving a car while under the influence of whiskey, possessing whiskey, being drunk and carrying a concealed weapon cost Frank Paul, Indian, of Pembroke, $192.70 this morning when he entered a plea of nolo contendere in Recorder P.S. Kornegay’s court.

Paul was arrested yesterday afternoon on the Fairway highway near the Seaboard railroad by Officer Vance McGill and Rural Policeman Melton Ivey. He was driving an Overland touring car at the time, and Recorder Kornegay ordered the car confiscated unless proof that the car did not belong to him was obtained.

Bill Jones and Von Speight of East Lumberton each was fined $25 and costs in Recorder P.S. Kornegay’s court this morning for being drunk Saturday. They were also taxed with the costs for engaging in an affray.
