Wilmington, May 22—Bond in the sum of $750 was given today by Robert O. Pickard, Raleigh, identified with the state department of labor and printing to cover releases of the automobile confiscated in a prohibition law violation case and also an appeal from the judgment of Recorder George Harris to the New Hanover Superior Court.
Pickard was convicted in the recorder’s court on charges of purchasing, possessing and transporting a half pint of liquor and his automobile was confiscated and ordered sold. On charges of operating a car under the influence of intoxicating liquor he was fined $50 and sentenced to 48 hours in jail. Fine was suspended on condition that he not drive a car in the county for 12 months.
It was from these findings that Pickard appealed. The bond as given covers appeals in both cases and releases his car pending action of the higher court.
