Mr. O.O. Dukes, county farm agent, showed a party of Cumberland county farmers some Robeson County pastures Thursday. They visited pastures of Mr. M. McMillan at Parkton, Messrs. J.H. Powers, Spurgeon Jones, D.T. Kinlaw, A.A. Bethune and Asa Musselwhile in Howellsville township, Green Valley Dairy farm, East Lumberton, and Williamson Bros. near Smyrna.
Those in the visiting party were: Messrs. F.C. Yarborough, F.J. Ellis, Carl Godwin, A.F. Beard, W.A. Holmes, N.F. Downing and N.B. Stevens, the last named being farm agent of Cumberland, and Mr. S.J. Kirby, pasture specialist of State College, Raleigh, who was teacher of agriculture at the county farm-life school at Philadelphus 11 years ago. Mr. Kirby says they saw some splendid carpet grass and lespedeza pastures under widely-varying conditions.
