Large Quantity of Liquor Taken by Federal Officers

Salisbury, May 22—Federal prohibition Officers Fletcher, Kilby, Prevette, Hallyburton and Kennedy, working out from the state headquarters here, destroyed 30,600 gallons of beer, captured 16 huge distilleries, and other property valued at $8,000 in Wilkes and Caldwell counties on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of this week, according to report from Director Coltrane this morning.

The officers captured a 300-gallon copper distillery in their raids, one of the largest outfits ever taken in this state. Most of the raids were made in the Windy Gap section where other officers destroyed about 8,000 gallons of beer and took two huge stills Monday.

Officer Osteen of Asheville also reported this morning the capture of two liquor cars and a driver near the mountain city.
