Thurman Rice, of the Broad Ridge section, is at large under $500 bond, and will be tried in Recorder P.S. Kornegay’s court Friday on charges of possessing and transporting whiskey, speeding and driving a car while under the influence of whiskey.
Rice was arrested yesterday afternoon by Chief of Police D.M. Barker when the touring car Rice was driving turned over at the corner of Second and Chippewa streets. Chief Barker stated that he had suspected Rice and was following him when the accident occurred. Rice and his companions, George Carter and Baxter Stephens, were pinned under the car but were not badly injured.
A quart of whiskey was found under the seat of the car. Carter and Stephens were not arrested.
