Pittsboro, Aug. 9—Miss Sadie Mims and Mr. Lee Mims were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. W.O. Petty during the week.

Mrs. E.J. McIver of Bear Creek, Mr. and Mrs. W.M. Phillips, were recent visitors at the home of G.S. McIver in Siler City.

Miss Evelyn Ray, daughter of Mayor and Mrs. A.C. Ray, was married on Monday morning to James Lester Wall. The ceremony was performed by the pastor of the bride, Rev. Jonas Barclay, and occurred at the residence of the bride.

Burtice Benton of Raleigh was on a short visit here this week.

Mrs. Della Fike and Mrs. Clara Calvert have returned from Mt. Vernon Springs.

Miss Catherine Hill of Washington, D.C., spent Sunday with Miss Camilla Powell.

Mrs. W.D. Siler was taken to a Richmond, Va., hospital Monday for treatment.

N.J. Dismukes of Saxapahaw has returned home after visiting his friends in Chatham.

Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Olive of Greensboro passed through Pittsboro Thursday on their way to Apex.

Misses Swannie Fox and Ethel Henderson of Siler City are visiting relatives in Raleigh this week.

Mrs. I.H. Straughan has returned home on Pittsboro Route 2 from a trip to Asheville and Waynesville.

Mrs. J.H. Miller, who has been visiting Miss Cordelia Harmon, has returned to her home at Hartsville, S.C.

Misses Lillian and Christine Adams, who have been visiting Miss Miriam Chapin, have returned to their home at Townsville.

J.S. Wrenn was in Pittsboro and Chatham last week visiting friends.

Mrs. J.C. Cheek and daughters, Misses Gretchen and Leah, returned Saturday from a week’s stay at Thaggards, in Moore county.

Mr. and Mrs. Fred Ray, Bill, Fred and Frances, and Mr. and Mrs. Burch Knott and Ruby Ray, of Sanford, were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. W.O. Petty Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. J.N. Eubanks of Greensboro, Mrs. O.W. Hamilton and son, Billy, of Winston-Salem are here on a visit to their parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.M. Eubanks.

Mrs. W.H. Moore and daughters of Rockingham are stopping at their summer residence west of Pittsboro. They have with them Miss Kate Hill Ihrie of Wendell as a visitor.

Miss Elizabeth Burns and Miss Winnie Lee Gilbert, nurses at Highsmith hospital at Fayetteville, spent a few days here this week with Miss Burns’ parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Burns.

Justice of the Peace R.M. Burns united in marriage Albert Smith of Bynum and Miss Lillian Johnson of Pittsboro, Rt. 1. After congratulations the couple left for their home.
