Marshall Stubbins' Foot Hurt When He Dropped Form--A Tray of Metal Type, Oct. 25, 1926

Marshall Stubbins Drops Form on Foot. . . Foot was Considerably “Pied,” Don’t Know About the Form, Getting Along Nicely

Marshall Stubbins, a pressman of A. D. Pate, Commercial printers, severely mashed his toes on his right foot, when lifting a form from a large press he dropped it.

Mr. Stubbins had spent the summer operating a popular park pool and resort and had only been back in the print shop two days. He attributed his accident to the difference in the weigh of bathing suits and type and slugs en mass.

Editor’s Note: The pressman dropped a form, a heavy tray of arranged type, and it mashed his foot. The pieces of type also spilled on the floor. Printers called this type “pi.”
