It is noteworthy that Judge Ray, in passing sentence upon a long list of defendants in criminal court during the past two weeks, dished out some road sentences among them for white men convicted of selling and dealing in whiskey. More of such sentences will go a long way toward the ultimate destruction of the business of bootlegging. If the white men quit it, the negroes will have to.
