Famous Auto Racer Killed on New Charlotte Speedway

Charlotte, Oct. 17—Ernie Ansterberg, world famous automobile racer, was killed yesterday on the new Charlotte Speedway, when, in some way as yet to be determined, he lost control of his car while trying the new track, struck the upper rail and went over it. He died on the way to a hospital.

Ansterberg arrived here this week from Los Angeles with a number of other racers for inaugural races at the new Charlotte speedway, October 25. He held the world’s record for the fastest lap on a mile and a quarter board track, having made this record at Altoona last summer. Ansterberg was married and his wife is said to be in Los Angeles.
