Miss Jane Constance Thorpe, a former superintendent of Saint Luke’s Hospital of this city, and Roy Franklin Shupp, of this city, were married on Tuesday in St. Thaddeus church at Aiken, South Carolina. News of the wedding will be received with much interest here where both of the parties are well known and popular.

Mrs. Shupp is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Thorpe of Aiken, S.C. She is a graduate nurse and since coming to New Bern as superintendent of St. Luke’s Hospital has made many friends here. She was the recipient of many social favors during her engagement.

Mr. Shupp is originally from Saylorsville, Pa., but came in New Bern a number of years ago to be associated with the Pine Lumber Company. He is the son of S.D. Shupp of Monroe County, Pa., and the nephew of Mrs. W.F. Aberly of this city. During the World War he was decorated for distinguished service. At present he is postmaster of the New Bern office, is connected with many civic organizations, and is well known as one of the city’s progressive and capable younger citizens.
