The regular weekly meeting of the Board of Directors have been resumed. Yesterday’s meeting was held at Jack’s Grill, the full Board being present, with the exception of Mr. J.L. Pottle who has not yet returned from New Hampshire.
Plans for the winter’s program were formulated and several projects up in line for speedy action.
Mrs. C.L. Hayes, member, attended the meeting and brought up several suggestions which were acted upon. It is the wish of the organization that more members would attend these meetings and cordial invitation is extended to them to join in the weekly meetings and bring helpful suggestions. The point which the Directors wish to bring home to every member is that the Chamber of Commerce “is your organization.” We want our Chamber of Commerce to be an organization Of the Members, By the Members, and For Southern Pines, and the only way in which this can be accomplished is by all joining hands and working together.
The Board lost a valuable Director by the resignation of J.S. Milliken. Doctor Milliken has been one of the Directors of the Chamber of Commerce since its inception in December 1922. He was one of the factors in its organization and has been one of the most energetic workers and supporters. He will be succeeded by R.L. Hart. Mr. Hart is the type of public-spirited citizen who is an asset to an organization and the Chamber of Commerce is fortunate in having him as one of its Directors.
