$1.2 Million Building to Cover Battery Park Plaza, Feb. 9, 1925

Mammoth Building in Asheville Planned. . . E.W. Grove Means to Construct it on Battery Park Area Plaza—To Cost about $1,200,000

Asheville, Feb. 7—A mammoth new building covering the entire Battery Park plaza, to cost $1,200,000 and constituting one of the most pretentious building projects in the history of the Carolinas, will be erected by E.W. Grove, according to announcement made today. It will contain a central tower eight stories high, 60 feet square, which will be fitted up as bedrooms with a café and a roof garden.

Grouped about the central tower will be eight two-story store buildings, 30 feet long and 174 feet wide. It will be constructed with terracotta and brick, with white stone trimmings.

In announcing the new project today, it was stated that Mr. Grove has had it under consideration for some time and has definitely decided to go ahead with the work as soon as final details are worked out.
