Mrs. Clinard, who has been visiting her father’s, Mr. Jas. T. Jones, at Oakwoods, a week, returned to Winston last Friday.

Miss Lura Jarvis, who holds a position with the Bank of North Wilkesboro, hardly escaped injury last week in an auto collision in town.

Rev. Mr. Craig, who is a missionary from the Congo country in Africa, spoke at the Presbyterian church in Wilkesboro Sunday afternoon. His talk was of remarkable interest. In his remarks he told of a leopard invading a native village and that the suspicious and superstitious authorities of government believed some one of the natives responsible and so punished one after lining the population up on the streets and “deciding” on who.

The gentlemen from Winston-Salem arrived in North Wilkesboro Sunday morning in time for the 9:45 Bible class at the Presbyterian church hut, and were heard by quite a number. They afterward attended regular services, and in the afternoon went over to Wilkesboro to hear Mr. Craig, the Congo Missionary, before returning home. Those here were Messrs. W.W. Smoak, Croome, Dr. Alexander, Cowan and Baer. They were here for the purpose of interesting our men and women to attend the Laymen’s missionary meeting at Greensboro Feb. 19th and 20th. A delegation will go from here to Jefferson on a similar trip next Sunday morning.
