Wilson Theatre Closed for Repairs, Feb. 10, 1925

Brockwell Closes the Theatre for Repairs. . . Representative of Insurance Commission Ordered Wilson Theatre to Close Doors Until Floors Are Repaired and Made Safe; Work Will be Done Immediately

The management of the Wilson Theatre closed the doors of their playhouse this afternoon upon the order of Sherwood Brockwell of Raleigh, a representative of the Insurance Commission, and will not reopen until the floors on the west side of the building have been repaired and made safe. The work will begin immediately, according to Dr. L.V. Grady, owner of the building, and it is hoped to have it completed by the latter part of the week.

Last week the Grand Jury in its report to Judge N.A. Sinclair, who is presiding over the Superior Court now in session, stated that the theatre was badly in need of repairs. The lack of proper fire protection was also mentioned in the report, but Mr. Brockwell found the building to be well equipped in case of fire.

The floor and the sills under the floor on the west side of the structure had rotted away and were declared unsafe by the insurance inspector and he ordered the building closed immediately.
