Plan Now for Spring Hay, Advises Goodman. . . Farmers Who Want Hay in Spring Should Plant Now, Farm Agent States

The farmer who wants plenty of hay next spring should plant now, R. D. Goodman, county farm agent, advises.

“Barley and vetch make the surest crop,” Mr. Goodman stated, “although oats and vetch and some other hay are planted. The farmer who wants to get his spring supply should not wait too long. Now is the best time to plant.”

Many farmers in the county, Mr. Goodman added, are planting their Lespedeza seed now. “Those who plan to save these seed should do so at once. The frosts have killed them and should there be a hard rain the seed would be beaten to the ground and lost.”

Mr. Goodman stated that farmers in various parts of the county reported an unusually heavy frost this morning. Ice also was reported by some of the farmers who declared las tight was the coldest of the season.
