F.P. Bacon President of Tryon Chamber of Commerce, Oct. 2, 1924

The Tryon Chamber of Commerce met Friday night and elected officers for the coming year. B.L. Ballenger was elected president, F.P. Bacon vice-president, and W.B. Weigel, secretary.

M.G. Blake, the secretary for the past six years, declined a renomination on the grounds that business kept him from attending to the duties the office involved.

It was agreed to hold semi-monthly meetings to be held in Missildines Hall on every alternate Friday night.

A tentative program calling for increased activity of the organization with a possibility of opening a downtown office with the services of a paid attendant was outlined and a membership drive will be staged shortly in order to raise the necessary funds.
