Mrs. Hooker, 69, Died Oct. 18, 1924

Aged Resident Died Last Night. . . Mrs. Mary Nancy Pugh Hooker, Loved Local Woman, Passes After Short Illness

Mrs. Nancy Pugh Hooker, widow of the late M.N. Hooker, passed away at her residence, 147 Pollock street, last night after an illness of several days.

The remains are to be taken to Kinston this morning for interment in Maplewood cemetery this afternoon at 3 o’clock. The funeral service will be conducted by Rev. C.K. Proctor, pastor of the Kinston Methodist church, assisted by the pastor of the Christian church of that city.

Mrs. Hooker leaves surviving her a daughter, a son, and a sister, Mrs. W.G. Milan, N.M. Hooker, and Mrs. N.C. Smith, all of New Bern; and a son, F.L. Hooker of Kinston.

The deceased who was 69 years old having been born October 13, 1855, had been long a resident of New Bern, and was well known among the city’s older residents. She was a woman of high Christian character and held in highest esteem by those who knew her.
