New Citizens Bank of Edenton, Oct. 10, 1924

Edenton’s Newest Bank Building

The very newest and by far the handsomest banking house in this section of the State is the new home of the Citizens Bank of Edenton. Built of Indiana silver grey limestone and Mt. Airy granite, this new three story structure presents an imposing appearance and is a monument to the thrift, progress, prosperity and price of Edenton and Chowan County. The banking room itself is in keeping with the beauty and dignity of the structure; an Italian Renaissance effect is obtained by the use of Cipolino marble columns, Terrazo floors with marble border The ceilings are finished in green and gold. Marble wainscoting bank screen of ornamental grille work, and silver grey white oak wood work complete the interior finish An electric elevator leads to rental offices and the directors’ room on the upper floors. The new bank has two large vaults of the very latest manufacture and construction, fireproof and as burglar proof as vaults can be built. Every comfort and facility has been provided for the patrons of the new bank, including a rest room for women. Visitors to the Chowan Fair at Edenton next week should not fail to visit the new bank building.
