Woman Kills Boy With Her Car and Steps on the Gas; No Clue. . . 16-Year-old Youth Knocked from Running Board of High Point-Lexington Bus by Automobile Driven by Woman, Identified as Mrs. Griggs, Rocky Mount—She Did Not Stop

Thomasville, N.C., Oct. 3—Reese Shuler, 16, who resided a short distance west of this city, was killed near here today when struck by an automobile alleged to have been driven by a woman described by police as Mrs. Griggs of Rocky Mount.

According to persons who witnessed the accident, Shuler was standing on the running board of an automobile bus bound from High Point to Lexington, when struck by the motor car driven by Mrs. Griggs. He was knocked to road and died almost instantly.

The woman, described as Mrs. Griggs, is declared by witnesses to have hastened from the scene of the tragedy without stopping to ascertain the boy’s injuries.

Police of this city learning of the accident asked the aid of High Point authorities in apprehending the driver of the fleeing automobile. However, it was reported by the chief of police at High Point late tonight that no woman answering the description of Mrs. Griggs had been apprehended there.
