Negro Held for Superior Court. . . James Rowland Charged with Breaking Into Carolina Laundry and Larceny of Clothing Bound Over to Superior Court Under $400 Bond

James Rowland alias James Rawls, was bound over to Superior Court under $400 bond this morning by Mayor Silas Lucas on a charge of breaking into Carolina Laundry and with the larceny of clothing valued at $350 from the firm. He was lodged in jail to await trial in default of bond.

The black, it is alleged, entered the building on August 1st, 1923, and removed clothing valued at approximately $350. He was apprehended shortly afterwards but was turned over to the Rocky Mount Police department who had a warrant for him on a charge of larceny of a bicycle. He was convicted and sentenced to 18 months on the roads on that charge and when he completed his sentence a few days ago was turned over to the local authorities on the charge against him in this city.

Other cases disposed of this morning were as follows:

A.O. Olson for being drunk, fined $15.25.

Lida Simpson was sentenced to 90 days in jail for having whiskey for the purpose of sale, case appealed, bond $150.
