Meat Camp

Making ‘lasses seems to be the order of the day just now. The evaporator at this place is working full blast and the folks in this community will be sure to have lots of ‘lasses and buckwheat cakes.

Rev. T.G. Williams filled his regular and last appointment at the Methodist church on last Sunday. That is unless he is sent back to this charge, and we surely hope he will be, for he has made his way into the hearts of the people and made many friends.

On last Friday morning at 9 a.m. the death angel again visited the home of Mr. John Greene and carried away his wife, Mrs. Sarah Green. It had only been one week since the death of their son, Lon. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Winkler of Boone visited last Sunday at Mrs. O.G. Winebarger’s, Mrs. Winkler’s sister.

Mr. J.W. Byers and family were visitors at the home of Mr. J.C. Proffit on Sunday afternoon.

Quite a lot of people from this place attended the burial of Mrs. Greene at Zionville on last Sunday.

Mr. A.W. Rodgson is off to Ashe county again, looking after business interests.

Mr. and Mrs. H.H. Proffit are the proud parents of a fine boy arrived on the 12th.

The three teachers of our school spent the week end at their homes on Cove Creek, Mr. Miller, Misses Beach and Sherwood.
