The quarterly conference of the M.E. Church met on October 7th and 8th with Rev. Mr. Williams presiding.

The Women’s Missionary Society was delightfully entertained by Mrs. T. H. Taylor on Wednesday.

Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Mast have been visiting relatives in Winston-Salem and Statesville.

Misses Emma and Daisy Mast spent the week end with their parents on Cove Creek.

Misses Alice and Sue Taylor were on a week end house party with Mrs. L.T. Johnson in Jefferson.

Misses Woodward and Anne Moretz, Messrs. Andy Greer and Howard Mast motored to Grandfather Mountain Sunday.

Mrs. C.D. Taylor and Mrs. H.R. Perry spent the day in Boone Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. J.P. Burke are visiting in Yanceyville, N.C.

Mr. Tom Taylor spent the week end in Chattanooga, Tenn.

Mr. and Mrs. J.L. Tester visited their son James at Christ School, Arden, N.C.

Misses Walton and Wheeler, members of the Mission School faculty, spent the week end in Morganton.

The young people of Valle Crucis entertained the Cove Creek High School faculty at a weinie roast on Wednesday evening.

Miss Anne Moretz entertained delightfully at a bridge and Mah Jongg party Tuesday evening. Dainty Chinese refreshments were served.

A number of the people of Valle Crucis are looking forward to going to the races in Charlotte next week.
