M.M. Gartrell, owner of the Wilson Bakery, was arrested last night on a charge of violating the Sunday “Blue Law” yesterday by selling cakes. He will be given a trial before Mayor Silas Lucas tomorrow morning at 9 o’clock.
According to local police, Gartrell opened his place of business about 6:30 yesterday afternoon and sold sweet cakes to several customers. A warrant was issued for his arrest, and trial was scheduled for this morning but was postponed until tomorrow.
Gartrell’s arrest is the second to be made since the “Blue Law” went into effect last Snday.
