Watauga County Cheese Factories Took Top Honors at Forsyth County Fair, Oct. 16, 1924

Six Cheese Factories Enter at Forsyth Fair

Watauga cheese factories took the first, second and third prizes at the Forsyth County Fair, Winston-Salem. This proves that we have good quality of milk and good cheese makers in Watauga.

W.L. Clevenger, Dairy Expert of Raleigh, who judged the cheese gave the following scores:

Brushy Fork Factory, Watauga County, 93.5.

Cove Creek factory, Watauga Co., 93.5.

Beaver Dam Factory, Watauga Co., 92.5.

Haywood Factory, Haywood Co., 92.0.

Democrat factory, Buncombe Co., 90.0

Horse Shoe Factory, Henderson Co., 88.0.

Let’s keep in mind the last scoring of this year which will be held at Asheville on November 11th.

Brushy Fork factories have orders for two Swiss cheese. These orders will be filled as soon as the cheeses are old enough.
