This was the only motor race of the afternoon, pony races being substituted. In the girls’ class, in which there were 11 entries, Rosalie Grantham won first place and the $7.50 prize; her sister, Frances, taking second money of $5; with Elsie Blalock finishing in third place for $2.50. In the boys and girls’ class, with nine entries, Paul Register finished first and won $7.50; Bert Dawson second and won $5; with Sam Dill taking third money of $2.50.

Mule Race

The mule race was one of the most interesting contests of the fair. Four heats were necessary to determine the winner. Durwood French’s mount finally qualified as the fastest and took the first place money of $15.

In the first heat, French finished first with Ambrose Jones and Bill Wheeler, second and third respectively; and the third heat showed an entirely new combination, Hughes first, French and Wheeler second and third respectively.

Mr. Hughes received $10 for second money and Ambrose Jones received $5.
