Heavy Sales of Tobacco on Wilson Mart

Wilson, Oct. 4—Sales on the Wilson tobacco market for the first month of the season wee 18,679,418 pounds, according to an announcement made here tonight by Supervisor of Sales J.H. Petty. The total amount paid for the weed was given as $4,072,707.93, an average of $21.80 per hundred pounds.

Sales on yesterday were the highest of the season, touching 1,130,820 pounds, according to Mr. Petty. This compares with the record set for one day in 1920 of 1,400,000.
