A 4-year-old girl of Charlotte sat on a pile of loose cotton in the home of her parents. She amused herself by striking matches and watching them burn. We can imagine that the flame from one of the sticks licked at her fingers and she dropped it into the cotton. There was a quick “puff” and the cotton was blazing. The child’s clothing caught fire. She died as a result of the burns.
“How horrible,” you say.
Yes, it is.
