The Weldon Graded School started off last Thursday under very favorable conditions. The auditorium was packed with parents, teachers and children. Rev. G. W. Perry read a scripture and offered a very fervent prayer. Mr. Geo. C. Green, Chairman of the School Board, addressed the teachers and children. His address was loudly applauded. Prof. Barnhart then proceeded to arrange the classrooms, which was a job.
The teachers are pretty, full of vim and read for work. So we look for one of the best years in the history of the school.
The old building, which is being made over, is not ready to be occupied now, but will be completed in a few weeks. While this building is being made ready, the children of the first grade are being taught in the basement of the M. E. Church.
