After a long illness, Mr. John F. Spain died in the home of his son, Mr. A. G. Spain, in Raleigh, Saturday morning, September 18th. His remains were brought to Norlina Sunday and the funeral service was held from the Methodist church and the interment took place in the Norlina cemetery. The service at the church and grave were conducted by Rev. W. M. Wall.
The deceased leaves a widow and five sons as follows: Austin, Alvin, Brown, Lonnie and Claxton. He was about 73 years old and had spent practically all his life in this community. He joined Mt. Auburn Christian Church when a young man and lived in that faith all his life.
