Durham, Sept. 20—Hearing on the charges of manslaughter and possession of whiskey against E. K. Powe Jr., member of the Durham City Council, growing out of the automobile accident on the Durham-Roxboro road, in which the car Mr. Powe was driving ran off a bridge and dropped 20 feet to the ground below, pinning the driver and W. N Poindexter Jr. of Walkertown, near Winston-Salem, beneath it, has been set for Sept. 23. Mr. Poindexter died two days after the accident. Mr. Powe is still in Watts hospital, but is expected to be able to attend the hearing. He is under bonds totalling $2,800.
