Mr. R. R. Fleming, one of Pitt County’s leading citizens, a farmer and merchant, died at his home in Pactolus Monday afternoon from a complication of diseases and advanced age, being 83 years old.
He was one of the few surviving Confederate soldiers of his county. Mr. Fleming had been a very active business man for many years, and had for a long time been president of one of the Greenville banks.
He leaves a widow, two sons, and one sister. He had been married four times.
Mr. Fleming was an uncle of Mrs. W. E. Warren of this city.
The burial will take place at a private plot on his farm this afternoon.
