Straw hats will resemble the “last rose of summer” that has begun to shatter after Wednesday, September 15, for that day has been officially decreed Felt-Hat-Day in Raleigh. All clothiers, haberdashers, and merchants dealing in men’s clothing will join in the observance of the day as a par tof the Fifth Fall Festival of the Merchants association.

While straw hats may be a thing of beauty in June or July, they are not a joy forever, says a proclamation issued by Major E. E. Culbreth, setting aside Wednesday, September 15, after which days men shall wear a felt hat without feeling self-conscious.
