Greensboro, Sept. 10—M. B. Ridenhour, who begged pitifully in Charlotte last Saturday to be locked up so that he would get off the narcotic habit, was told by Sam Williams, federal narcotic agent here, who was in Charlotte on official business, that other matters had to be attended to, but that if Ridenhour could not be satisfied except by being placed where the dogs couldn’t bite him to pay his fare to Greensboro. Ridenhour was sentenced this morning by Judge D. H. Collins in municipal court to serve 30 days.
Ridenhour was in earnest and today he was placed behind the bars to answer to the charge of administering drugs to himself. He paid his own way from Charlotte here and presented himself as a candidate for a prisoner term. He is the third such person who in the past two weeks had adopted such a course here to try to get cured of the drug habit.
(Ridenhour is a resident of Concord, and has a position in one of the cotton mills. He was formerly a minister. –Editor)
