The first bale of cotton from the 1926 crop was ginned at Clayton Tuesday, and was brought in by Mr. Len Ellen and was grown by William Holder, colored, on the farm of Mr. B. M. Robertson. The bale was bought by Ashley Horne and Son and brought 20 cents. Just a few minutes later the second bale was ginned by M. Paul Spence, and was bought by J. G. Barbour and Sons, bringing 18 cents.
Cotton is beginning to open up fairly well in the fields about Clayton, and the next week or so will see the gins of the community working in full blast.
