Miss Pattie Chappell, of the class of ’24, was the editor of the Voice of Peace for the year 1925-26. Laura Mabel Haywood, class of ’25, succeeds Miss Chappel this year. Both of these girls are of the High School Alumni and are making splendid records at Peace.
Frances Gibson, former editor of The Raleigh Student, and prominent member of the class of ’24, is the business manager of The Carolinian for the coming year. Miss Gibson made a splendid record as the first editor of The Raleigh Student, and we are sure she will make an even better one at N.C.C.W.
Miss Mildred English, assistant superintendent of Raleigh schools, returned to Raleigh last week. She has been attending summer session at Peabody College, and received her Master’s degree there. The subject of Miss English’s thesis was “The Comparative Study of the Distribution of Rural and Urban Principals.”
Mr. E. T. McSwain, principal of the Caldwell School of Greensboro, N.C., who has been inspecting the work done in the Lincoln School, New York City, was a visitor in the city a few days ago. Mr. McSwain said that in his opinion the work being done in the elementary grades in the Raleigh schools compared most favorably with the work of the Lincoln School.
Miss Frances L. Doolittle, member of the class of ’25, and also a member of the National Honor Society, will attend Peace Institute this year.
Miss Lillie Mae Scruggs, who is a member of the class of ’25 and the National Honor Society, will attend Peace Institute this year.
Louis H. Wilson, editor of The Raleigh Student, has accepted the place of manager of the Raleigh Letter Writers.
Mr. Wessinger went to New York this summer. While there he bought a paper from the Woolworth Building because it had 48 stories in it.
