Daytona Beach, Fla., Sept. 6—A pathetic little mother’s story of how her 12-year-old daughter and 16-year-old niece were beyond her control—that they participated in “petting parties” on the beach each night—caused Judge Parkinson to sentence the two girls to 60 days in jail.
The girls were arraigned before him on disorderly conduct charges.
Police produced confessions of the girls who admitted intimacy with numerous boys they had picked up on the streets at night and accompanied to the beach.
The mother, tearfully, told how she had tried and tried to influence the girls to quit “petting” and Judge Parkinson gave the sentence.
